Product Code: R97-1111Description Content delivery services improve the speed and quality of delivery of Web site content or streamed video/audio, by replicating the content in multiple edge servers closer to end-users, and use intelligent traffic management tools to route requests to the best available server. In-Stat/MDR conducted a Web-based survey of end-users from its Technology Adoption Panel to determine adoption rates of content delivery services and in-house CDNs (Content Delivery Networks), as well as address various areas of interest related to content delivery services. Key reasons why organizations choose to implement an in-house CDN, as opposed to an outsourced content delivery service, are highlighted. The most important factors in the selection of a content delivery service provider are identified. Future opportunities for new forms of content delivery service SLAs, as well as the need for content solutions integrators, are examined. The report also includes five detailed case studies of organizations currently using content delivery services: Akamai customers - BET and BMW, Globix customer - The FeedRoom, and Speedera customers- KQED and Vans.Table of Contents
