Revenue actually declined by 13% in the quarter because of the lower Average Selling Prices (ASPs) of SOHO routers, which comprised 96% of the shipments. Linksys remained the market share leader in overall router unit shipments with 26.7% market share. Regional breakouts are included in this quarter’s report. On average, 50.5% of router shipments were in North America. ADTRAN announced the NetVanta 3000 series of access routers, which will compete with Cisco’s branch office routers, specifically the 1721. Vina, Netopia, Quick Eagle, Hitachi, and Perle Systems introduced new products in the quarter, and all vendors are hoping to capture market share from Cisco.
