3Q 2002 Terabit Router Market Analysis

Product Type: Market Research Report
Published by: In-Stat
Published: November 2002
Product Code: R97-1114
Description
Overall, the total router market increased 14% from 2Q 02, due to the increase in low-end router shipments. Revenue actually declined by 13% in the quarter because of the lower Average Selling Prices (ASPs) of SOHO routers, which comprised 96% of the shipments. Linksys remained the market share leader in overall router unit shipments with 26.7% market share. Regional breakouts are included in this quarter’s report. On average, 50.5% of router shipments were in North America. ADTRAN announced the NetVanta 3000 series of access routers, which will compete with Cisco’s branch office routers, specifically the 1721. Vina, Netopia, Quick Eagle, Hitachi, and Perle Systems introduced new products in the quarter, and all vendors are hoping to capture market share from Cisco. This report includes detailed revenue and shipment market shares, regional breakouts, and a rolling, three-quarter forecast of the service provider router market (core and edge), enterprise, branch office and SOHO router segments.
