2Q 2003 Service Provider Router Market AnalysisProduct Type: Market Research ReportPublished by: In-Stat Published: August 2003 Product Code: R97-1363 Description In-Stat/MDR has begun a new quarterly report entitled, "Broadband CPE Market Analysis," which includes DSL modems, cable modems, SOHO routers and residential gateways. The SOHO router segment has been deleted from this report. The "Service Provider Router Market Analysis" will now include branch office, enterprise, service provider edge and service provider core routers. Overall, the total router market increased 10% from 1Q 03 in unit shipments, due to an increase in all router segments. Branch office routers comprised the bulk of shipments, roughly 82%. North America was a strong region for edge router shipments in the quarter, from both Cisco and Juniper. Juniper sold the E-series of routers to Verizon. Europe also remains a strong region for router growth. A greater percentage of core routers were also sold to carriers in North America, which suggests that the demand for broadband is growing and that carriers are beginning to build out their networks to support the growth.
This report includes six quarters of historical vendor market shares and a three-quarter forecast, as well as regional percentages. Table of Contents | List
