Up (Too Much?): Q2 2003 Handset Report

Product Type: Market Research Report
Published by: In-Stat
Published: September 2003
Product Code: R97-1434
Description
The global wireless handset market had a very strong second quarter, following a healthy Q1.

Based on the latest data, handset shipments rose 22.5% in Q2, compared to the same quarter a year earlier. But it was too much of a good thing, as excess inventory in China ballooned to 20 million units. It will likely take until year's end for inventory levels in the world's largest market to return to normal.

Despite this inventory challenge, handset manufacturers should post a strong year.

Other highlights of this handset report include:

• Metrics for shipments by technology
• Regional shipment data and forecasts
• Handset revenue forecasts
• New figures for camera-phone and smartphone shipments
• A discussion of new handsets coming to market

If wireless handsets are important to your strategic thinking, then this report is a must-have. It has all the latest data on the global and regional markets, and related trends.
