Europe, like The Americas has been hard-hit, during the, hopefully past, economic slowdown. The European region has dropped behind Asia Pacific, to last place relative to the consumption of these products. Last year, Europe saw consumption of these products decline by 25.9% year-over-year. This year, while consumption will rebound, it will be minimal at best, with current forecasts showing an increase of only 1.4% in 2003.
End-use consumption for these products, in Europe, is examined in detail by major end-use, as well as by major second-level end-use application, such as networks, basestations, servers, medical, et cetera. The relationship of consumption in Europe will be further compared to the same end-use application in other regions, more specifically the US. Additional discussions relative to the use of the MOS standard cell design approach for the manufacture of Application-Specific Standard Products (ASSPs) are also included in this report.
