State of the Market: A Demographic and Vertical Industry Profile; Part Two: US Mid-Sized Businesses (100 to 999 Employees)

Product Type: Market Research Report
Published by: In-Stat
Published: June 2004
Product Code: R97-1657
Description
This report provides size of business and vertical industry perspectives of market statistics on the number of firms and employees in the mid-sized business market. The research also provides data on the primary work environments of employees in this market, including the number of telecommuters, Internet-accessing telecommuters, and remote branch offices. Detailed five-year forecasts are included for all mid-sized business demographics, along with a discussion of current market trends.

Despite world events, the US economy appears to be continually improving. The leading indicators look good after the first quarter and well into the second. Employment is up, inventories are low and consumer spending is holding. Though the current economic environment in the US is not ideal and the overall global economy remains fragile, much needed signs of improvement are readily apparent in the overall economy and in the middle market as well. In-Stat/MDR expects consistent growth in the number of firms and employment in the mid-sized business market (firms with 100 to 999 employees) over the next several years. Of more interest, fragmentation - the distribution of employees across multiple locations - continues to escalate in this segment and is expected to further drive IT requirements and spending moving forward.
