In-Sights: Education Adoption of VoIP, IP VPN, and Converged SolutionsProduct Type: Market Research ReportPublished by: In-Stat Published: August 2006 Product Code: R97-2525 Description Businesses are increasingly well aware of the wide array of IP voice solutions available to meet their business needs. This has resulted in strong adoption among US business overall (33%), with similar adoption among the Education market segment. This segment is slightly below the national average in adoption of IP VPN services.
To date, the Education market segment has been one of the weakest industries in converging voice, data, and video capabilities. However, Education IT managers are similarly inclined to increasingly converge network capabilities in the next 18 months, as are their counterparts in other industries.
IT expenditures in this segment are more focused on achieving competitive advantage. As competition for students increases, we anticipate continued differentiation in these areas for higher-education institutions.
In-Stat believes that in the long-term, efforts to improve employee productivity and contain costs will continue to drive increasing levels of investment in IP-based services, including multiple VoIP solutions, such as IP PBXs, as well as IP VPN. The Education sector expenditures on convergence of networks are also likely to grow closer to the national average through the next several years.
