The survey underlines the fact that piracy remains a serious issue in the Asia/Pacific region, and In-Stat feels that this issue will affect the future development of the legal online video content business.
In-Stat estimates that 23.3% of total broadband subscribers are currently paying for online video content, with a total revenue of US$735.9 million in 2006. By 2011, the percentage of paid online users will reach 35.0%, with US$2.87 billion in revenue, as a result of increasing broadband bandwidth and consumer awareness of the services.
