Product Type: Market Research Report
Published by: In-Stat
Published: September 2007
Product Code: R97-2968Description The Asia/Pacific home automation services market is expected to grow quickly in 2008 and 2009; however, the market development within the region is uneven. Japan and South Korea are expected to continue to take the leading positions in the region in terms of the technology. Australia and New Zealand have high development potential, providing that most single-family homes require a higher level of home security. China, Taiwan, Thailand, Hong Kong, and Singapore are potential markets with the need for more customer education. India and Malaysia will contribute to the regional home automation services emergence in two to three years, while Indonesia and the Philippines will not contribute significantly to development in the short-term, due to their weak infrastructures.
Included is related information from the Residential Technology Survey (RTS) which was conducted in 2Q07. The data for this report were obtained via web-based questionnaires, and the respondents were members of global online consumer panels in countries that are considered "e-ready." Over 800 responses were obtained from Korea and Japan. The results indicated that Koreans had the highest ownership rate among all the markets for home automation systems.
