Directions '07—3Q Worldwide Infrastructure Contract Award SummaryProduct Type: Market Research ReportPublished by: In-Stat Published: November 2007 Product Code: R97-3003 Description The third quarter of 2007 was strong overall—one of the strongest quarters in the last five years—and 2007, as a whole, is turning out to be a very strong year. This is driven not so much by 3G as it is driven by capacity enhancements in regions with fast growing subscriber bases, such as Asia. In fact, the majority of contract awards for the quarter were in Asia, especially in China and India. The purchase of 3G equipment has slowed a bit as most cellular operators wanting to deploy 3G already have, and with the new networks operating at well under full capacity, upgrades are rare. Instead, most of the purchases in recent months have simply been operators increasing their basic voice capacity due to increases in their subscriber base. In fact, even in the US, most of the infrastructure upgrades are being driven by capacity expansions and not new 3G data services. This report contains all reported cellular infrastructure contract awards for 3Q07. Awards are listed by manufacturer, region, technology, and award amount. In addition, a summary of award totals for the last four and a half years is included. Table of Contents
