Product Code: R97-3038Description Digital visual interface (DVI) and sister technology high-definition multimedia interface (HDMI) are both successful high-bandwidth digital interface specifications. DVI-enabled shipments will reach 112 million in 2007, but are expected to decline thereafter due to the entry of the DisplayPort standard in the PC segment.
HDMI is seeing continued success in 2007, particularly in the CE segment, where it can be found in a vast majority of digital televisions, as well as blue laser DVD players and recorders and HD camcorders. In addition, HDMI is increasing its penetration of standard-definition DVD players and recorders, set top boxes, game consoles, and A/V receivers.
Wireless is also entering the HDMI market via a number of companies that have announced the ability to transmit HDMI signals wirelessly via Ultrawideband (UWB) technology. These video over UWB solutions will begin to hit the market in 2008.
