Base Stations Go Bonkers. '01-'05 Infrastructure Forecast

Product Type: Market Research Report
Published by: In-Stat
Published: September 2001
Product Code: R97-774
Description

This report is segmented into two sub-sections. Total base stations deployed, and new base stations per year. No attempt has been made to segregate 2.5G from 2G, since currently there is not an industry reporting structure that allows system upgrades to be counted on a station-by-station basis.

On the other hand, while 3G UMTS is easier to tabulate (and count), there is no consensus regarding the sharing of infrastructure by multiple service providers. Consequently, this report, which is the first In-Stat report that forecasts 3G infrastructure, assumes an initial sharing period for Western Europe, followed by more aggressive individual deployment beginning in mid-2004.
