Product Type: Market Research Report
Published by: In-Stat

Product Code: R97-942Description Yes, the slower terminal, or handset, outlook has definitely impacted the forecast for Bluetooth shipment out through 2006. Although that does dampen our forecast, the Bluetooth market will still be huge. We said before that the industry is 'Making it So' – and indeed it is, in terms of making Bluetooth a reality. With some large, planned December shipments getting pushed out to the first quarter this year, our figures show that there were still 10.4 million shipped in 2001. While WLAN chips grew 23% to an unexpected 8 million, and 2002 expectations at 14 million, Bluetooth solutions have already outstripped that market, and will soar to a conservative estimate of 48 million in 2002, for a growth rate of 362%. This report covers Bluetooth equipment and technology, looking at Bluetooth chips, IP, and Bluetooth equipment being made and marketed, along with a myriad of applications and where they are headed. Discussions of coexistence, new applications, and new deployments are explored. We forecast manufactured Bluetooth-enabled equipment by detailed application, in addition to semiconductor shipments by detailed application. Additionally, the forecast for radio, baseband, and host-supported functional silicon solutions is presented, as well as semiconductor shipments by geographic region, shipments by Class 1 vs. Class 2/3, and application segmentations for Class 1. All forecasts are through 2006.
