Product Type: Market Research Report
Published by: In-Stat
Published: November 1999
Product Code: r97-262Description Not only does In-Stat expect computing devices to change to reflect the more mobile nature of workers (laptops v. Desktops), but also expects middle market firms to start making major investments in collaborative and Internet-enabling applications. Facilitating collaboration across dispersed groups and using the web to better reach and serve customers, as well as lower costs are believed to be two top priorities for mid-sized firms.
Mid-sized businesses are estimated to have spent more than $13 billion on computer hardware in 1998, with client hardware accounting for more than a third, or $5 billion of the total available market. Server hardware, accounting for roughly $3 billion in 1998, is expected to grow in importance over the coming years, as these firms build more robust and power web-platforms for sales, marketing and communication. The emerging application service provider industry may affect these firms demand for server hardware. However effects won't be visible until late in 2000. Table of Contents
