This report presents a comprehensive analysis of the customer-specific, MOS standard cell product consumption in The Americas. That is to say, products that are designed and manufactured for a specific customer, to meet a specific system-level requirement, using the standard cell design methodology. Even though The Americas has been very hard-hit, during the still ongoing economic slowdown, it will recover. Even though the region has dropped behind Japan, by 6.5 percentage points, it will rebound. Last year, The Americas saw consumption of these products decline by 31.7% year-over-year. This year, while consumption will rebound, it will be minimal at best, with current forecasts showing it being up by only 2.8%.
End-use consumption for these products, in The Americas, is examined in detail, as well as by major second-level end-use application, such as networks, basestations, servers, medical, et cetera. The relationship of consumption in The Americas will be further compared to the same end-use application in other regions. Additional discussions, relative to the use of the MOS standard cell design approach for the manufacture of Application-Specific Standard Products (ASSPs), are also encompassed in this report. Also included, is a discussion of customer-specific, MOS standard cell suppliers, and the issues surrounding the reporting of these product's shipments, as well as voltage, packaging and mixed-signal trends.
