The security processor market is young and full of start-ups all out to make a name for themselves. As history has proven in the past, this will invariably lead to some companies closing their doors for good, others getting bought by larger, more established companies, and still others eventually becoming successful. When one examines the security processor market, it becomes clear that this area is especially turbulent thanks to the myriad of different places that can benefit from encryption acceleration. This report examines this particular sub-sector of the security market - since there are other chips that can help with certain kinds of security, but don't use cipher technology.
Among the encryption chips, there are clearly intended speed grades for which a chipmaker designs. We examine all of these speed grades - from T-1 lines to 10 Gbps - to determine a complete picture of the market. This is especially helpful since several vendors have multiple products in multiple different speed grades. Ihis report contains forecasts for shipments, ASPs, and revenues for each of the various speed grades, extrapolated over the next five years. There are also drill down shipment forecasts that examine certain key markets in more detail, all based on In-Stat/MDR's extensive database of equipment projections.
