Handset Market Cools, Yet Growth Remains: Q1 2005

The rate of growth in the cell phone market cooled off in Q1 05, according to a new In-Stat report.
Manufacturers produced a total of nearly 169 million units, according to "Handset Market Cools, Yet Growth Remains: Q1 2005." That represented a 6% increase from the same quarter a year ago, but was below the double-digit rates of growth seen in recent quarters.
Sequentially, cell phone shipments dropped 13% from the last quarter of 2004, reflecting an expected seasonal slowdown after a busy holiday sales period.
