In 1Q 05, worldwide Wi-Fi revenue increased by 15% Year-over-Year (YoY), up from $624 million in 1Q 04. Quarter-over-Quarter (QoQ) revenue was up by 3%. Total worldwide Wi-Fi revenue for 1Q 05 was $737.6 million.

Total Wi-Fi unit shipments showed a 6% gain from 2004, boosted by strong sales in Europe. Unit shipments of 802.11g access products increased by 9%. Unit shipments of 802.11g client products grew by 8%. Shipments of multimode access products, comprised mostly of enterprise products, declined by 7%.

WLAN embedded in broadband equipment continues to outpace standalone SOHO access points. Linksys had the highest market share in both shipments and revenue.
