1Q 2002 Terabit Router Market Analysis
Overall the total router market remained flat quarter over quarter, with a 1% decline in Q1 02 from Q4 01. The Enterprise and Service Provider Edge and Core router segments experienced a decline in unit shipments, due to service provider CapEx constraints. Regional breakouts are included in this quarter’s report. On average, roughly 50% of routers were shipped domestically, to North America, followed by 28% of routers shipped to Europe. Also, wireless SOHO routers is a new segment in this quarter’s report, because wireless is a growing segment in home networking. This report includes detailed revenue and unit shipment market shares and a rolling, three-quarter forecast of the service provider router market (core and edge), enterprise, branch office and SOHO segments.
