The ISP industry embarked on a massive infrastructure build out in 1998 to accommodate the influx of new Web users. The data in the this report illustrate the state of the Internet access infrastructure in the United States today. This report is the second in a series based on Cahners In-Stat Group's exhaustive ISP survey, which interviewed decision makers at 150 ISPs of various sizes. The survey solicited key spending, demographic, and infrastructure information from respondents most qualified to answer questions about budget and policy. The findings from this study provide a valuable guide for determining how the ISP market will develop and how ISP decision makers will behave during the coming 12 months.
